having been asked to submit a video as to why i think techhub would be a great idea, i decided that it would be a good topic for this week’s video…
in all seriousness, i’m so proud to be a part of the uk tech scene – often forgotten for the valley… there are some great things going on here! the techhub would be an awesome place for all of that talent to come together in one place… and it would make an awesome back drop for some of my videos
happy new year to you all, i hope that 2010 is treating you well… i’m having an operation next week and so it’s unlikely that i’ll be doing a video, but be warned, i’ll be back and kicking in no time, so don’t forget me!
love and hugs,

well it’s saturday and the hangover from thursday night’s techcrunch europa awards is just about wearing off… what a night!
spotify well and truly stole the show, winning awards for the best web application/service, best startup founders and best new startup summer 2008-2009 – which seemed more than a good enough reason for me to consume another champagne with spotify being my favourite app of late. i think all of my christmases came at once when shakil kahn from spotify asked to be introduced to me and then went on to introduce me to roberta!
whilst i was disappointed that my good friend richard moross of moo only made it to the finalists for best entrepreneur, it was sweetened slightly by huddle winning the best enterprise/b2b startup (emea) award.
it was fantastic to finally meet the travelling geeks, including Robert Scoble, Sarah Lacy and Meghan Asha. it was great to see so many familiar faces, including my friends Tariq Krim (Netvibes), Zee Kane (The Next Web), Michael Smith (Firebox), Andy McLoughlin (Huddle) and Andrew Scott (Rummble) amongst many others.
the event just went to prove what a happening web scene exists in europe, how tight the community is and that even in times of an economic turndown, paid events still serve a very good purpose. i walked away more inspired and motivated than i can remember being in a very long time, promising myself to attend more events in future. thanks to mike butcher for organising!

now please don’t think that i’m a public transport snob, i’m not. it’s just that my standards seem to be different from those of my fellow travellers… i’m sure that a few of my points with strike a chord!
i’m equipped with hand steriliser and a face mask, i should be fine…
have an awesome thursday.

there are only seven sleeps to go until that plump chap with the beard squeezes his way down your chimney. whilst christmas is a happy occasion it can also bring with it it’s very own trials and tribulations, so to help you survive and make it to the new year in one piece, i created a survival checklist for you…
for those that aren’t yet feeling festive, i defy anyone to watch this video and not manage to smile… a classic!
