Joanne Hynes: My New Found Love

I had the pleasure of being invited to be invited by Snow PR to their press day last week, featuring the best of high fashion and high street.

There were lots of beautiful pieces for SS13 along with some high summer statement pieces which were gorgeous. The standout collection for me though, wasn’t the clothes, it was the statement accessories from Joanne Hynes.

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve been tweeting about Joanne for a couple of weeks now having discovered one of her pieces being worn at the Smirnoff event that I attended. Now that I’ve discovered her masterpiece, you can’t help but notice if somebody is wearing one of her items. They’re real statement pieces that look awesome clashing against patterns or simply providing a pop of colour and wow to a plain outfit.

The below features the lollipop which is inspired by childhood memories and nostalgia and is my FAVOURITE piece.

With winter upon us, you’ve probably heard that Ilse Jacobsen is going to be the hottest property around this Christmas, with the wellies taking centre stage from the Hunter masses.

Sadly this photo does it no justice but I was pleasantly surprised by the dresses on over from Forever Unique. Having recently been tarnished with the TOWIE brush, I was amazed to find this full length gown as part of their collection. Looks like the Essex crew are going to have to find a different brand to plague.

I’m excited for SS13, from the pieces that I saw, it’s going to be an awesome season, with lots of bold patterns, neon accents and brave uses of new materials. Other designers included Maya’s Closet and my favourite brand of all time PPQ. The stuff dreams are made of. Heart, heart heart (would have taken pics but my favourite pieces were being played with by a pesky journo).

Thanks to Snow PR for being so lovely and for letting us play dress up. Every blogger loves that, right?

Much Wednesday love,

The reason it takes girls so long to get ready…

The next time a boy pesters me, asking me how long I’m going to be getting ready, I’m going to sit him infront of my Mac and will play this to him. Haven’t you got WOW or something to play?

This video explains why it takes us slightly longer than you’d hope to get ready… Enjoy!

I’d love to hear about your routine! Or alternatively consider it counselling if you have a girlfriend that does the same.

Stay awesome,

How is London dealing with the heat?

As the sun finally shows its smiley face upon the London town, it struck me that people aren’t quite ready; their wardrobes just aren’t prepared.

I decided to take a walk down Oxford Street to Carnaby Street to inspect for myself. Here I share my findings (if you’re not into fashion, it’s also a little tour of the city for you!).

Review: Invitation Only Pop Up Event

A couple of weeks ago, I received an invitation to attend a pop up event being hosted by Invitation Only in BECCA Boutique, South Kensington. Having just been paid, my friend and I decided that it would provide the perfect excuse for an afternoon of luxury… so along we went.

I have to be honest, I’d never heard of Invitation Only before and so I had no idea of what to expect. As we entered BECCA, we knew that it was going to be something special as we were greeted by huge smiles and ushered into the downstairs area of the boutique where we were greeted with a lovely glass of champagne. Granted it was only noon, but somewhere in the world it was dusk, right?

Initial impressions were that I’d walked into a treasure trove. A treasure trove of expensive goodies. I was in heaven. The first thing to grab my attention were these Gretchen suede clutch bags by Miller & Jeeves (surprisingly reasonably priced!).

Before I’d had time to check whether any of my tech necessities could fit into the clutch, I was off, there were sparkly things to check out (I’m pretty sure that I was a magpie in a past life). Whilst there was a whole range of individual designer pieces, my favourite was the hand-crafted jewelry by Alona.

The ring that I loved (featured above) is the Megan Ring in gold at £188.

The great thing about Invitation Only is that it’s an event held every other month, showcasing different up and coming designers. Some of the bags being featured are currently being stocked in Harvey Nicholls and Harrods whilst there are other pieces that I’ve never seen before and are all reasonably priced. The lovely girls at Invitation Only have an awesome eye for styling and are happy spending as much time chatting away to you, if that’s your thing or are happy to let you do your own thing whilst you take a peek. You know if you buy something there, you won’t bump into somebody wearing the same thing.

As if that wasn’t enough, they often offer discounts on the day, so it’s definitely worth taking a look. The next event is due to take place on 30th June in the same location. Be sure to follow them on Twitter to stay informed of up and coming events.

Of course we took ourselves off for a cheeky glass of bubbles afterwards at Jaks to celebrate… Celebrate what you ask? Finding one of London’s best kept secrets of course!

p.s. These scarves are by I Love Kate. They’re silk and stunning and I need them in my life. Immediately. They’re big in Dubai, you heard it here first.

The launch of a brand new e-boutique

Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to Public to celebrate the launch of Melabelle’s e-boutique. Melabelle is a new label launched by the incredibly talented Bella Cager after taking a sebatical to Indonesia and Australia.

The collection is incredibly girlie, which I love and the Spring collection in particular is inspired by the English seaside. With many products made from 100% silk and prints hand-designed, you can’t help but feel you’re experiencing something really special when you wear the pieces. The great thing about all of the pieces is that they’re really flattering – designed to fit real women. One thing’s for sure, I’ll definitely be packing a few pieces for Monaco.

Whilst anybody who knows me will know that I have a slight obsession with fashion, the thing that really excites me is that with the launch of her new e-boutique, this really talented designer is now able to sell products all over the world and host pop-up stores like the one that I went to last week. In a world of ever-evolving technology, it’s great to see that the online world continues to bring new talent to the masses and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Bella.

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

So, I was honoured to be asked by the good folks behind Fashion Targets Breast Cancer to produce a video talking through my views on fashion and what it means to me.

Now I recognise I was never going to live up to their other huge ambassadors including Cat Deeley, Matthew Williamson, Amanda Wakeley but it’s a bloody good cause and I couldn’t wait to get involved.
